Ideology

Sociology (Humanities), 1907

When the answer is the same, regardless of the question.

Although descended from Destutt de Tracy’s 1796 notion of the “science of ideas”, the contemporary definition emerged from socialist and communist literature between 1905-1918. An example from the International Journal of Ethics in 1896 refers to the “ideology of the older socialists”. The first major publication to address the topic was “Ideology and Utopia” by sociologist Karl Mannheim in 1929.
